Portraits by David Patton
I am a on location portrait photographer. Although I'm equipped to do photography indoors, I prefer to work in the beautiful outdoor spaces in and around Lebanon, Oregon, using natural light as much as possible. My 25 years as a photojournalist has taught me to be flexible and to adapt my photography to a variety of lighting conditions and location. It is this experience I bring to your portrait session.
When you book a portrait session with me, here is what to expect.
1) First we do a pre-session consultation through email, or phone to help you decide on a session package, location, wardrobe and time that will help us achieve the best results for your images.
2) The photo shoot, let the fun begin! We meet at the planned location. That could be a favorite place, a park or your home. If an outdoor setting is picked for your portrait there will have to be some flexibility. If Oregon weather decides not cooperate, we may have to reschedule your session.
3) Post portrait session. Your photos will be uploaded to a personal online gallery for you to make your selections. Once you have picked your favorites, I will finish the final edits and send them to the lab. When I receive the pictures back from the lab I will inspect each print before I deliver them to you.
Tips for a successful photo session.
It's all about the light, and that's why I schedule the outdoor portrait sessions in the morning or late afternoons for the best possible lighting conditions.
The decision on what to wear is a personal preference. My one recommendation is no patterns, it is best to stick with solid colors for your portraits. Of course if your dog spot wants to wear a polka dot sweater for the photo, I will try to make that work.
Be flexible, there are things in life we can't control, pets, children and the Oregon weather can all have bad days. So relax and know we can just reschedule your session. Because in the end, having a great experience and providing you with images you can cherish for a lifetime is what matters most.
My goal as a portrait photographer is to make a photograph that shows the essence of who you are. I view the portrait as a collaboration between the subject and the photographer, both working together to come up with the best image possible.
So what's your passion? Lets capture that in a photograph.
