Portraits by David Patton

I am a on location portrait and fine art landscape photographer, with a strong emphasis on black and white photography. Currently all of my portrait photography is done at outdoor locations in Willamette Valley and the foothills of the Oregon Cascades, using natural light as much as possible. My 25 years as a photojournalist has taught me to be flexible and to adapt my photography to a variety of lighting conditions and location. It is this experience I bring to your portrait session.
When you book a portrait session with me, here is what to expect.
1) First we do a pre-session consultation through email, or phone to help you decide on a session location, wardrobe and time that will help us achieve the best results for your images.
2) The photo shoot, let the fun begin! We meet at the planned location. That could be a favorite place, a park or an outdoor location at your home. When doing portraits in outdoor settings there will have to be some flexibility. If Oregon weather decides not cooperate, we may have to reschedule your session.
3) Post portrait session. Your photos will be uploaded to a personal online gallery for you to make your selections. Once you have picked your favorites, I will finish the final edits and if prints are requested I will send the files to the lab, once completed the prints will be drop shipped to your home.
4) All billing and financial transactions will be carried out online thru Paypal invoices.
I am currently working 100 percent in black and white for all of my portrait photography sessions,
to create a timeless one of a kind work of art.

Tips for a successful photo session.
It's all about the light, and that's why I schedule the outdoor portrait sessions in the morning or late afternoons for the best possible lighting conditions.
Be flexible, there are things in life we can't control, pets, children and the Oregon weather can all have bad days. So relax and know we can just reschedule your session. Because in the end, having a great experience and providing you with images you can cherish for a lifetime is what matters most.
My goal as a portrait photographer is to make a photograph that shows the essence of who you are. I view the portrait as a collaboration between the subject and the photographer, both working together to come up with the best image possible.
So what's your passion? Lets capture that in a photograph.
Portrait sessions start at $80, for more information contact me at ridingtheedgephotography@gmail.com so we can start planning your portrait today.
